Mandarin Orange Bread

If you like slightly sweet breakfast bread you'll enjoy this bread.  I toasted it and served it with honey, and I was experiencing heaven with my cup of coffee.

This is a very dense bread with a truly unique flavor.

Mandarin Orange Bread
(printer friendly version)

1 1/2 cups mandarin orange segments, drained
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup mandarin orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 - 4 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon yeast

Sesame Topping
1 egg white
1/4 cup water
2-4 tablespoons sesame seeds

Mix butter, segments, orange juice, sugar, salt and yeast.  Add flour 1 cup at a time until bread is elastic.  Place in greased bowl, turning to coat and cover with damp towel to rise.  After double in size punch down and knead a few times.  Shape into loaf and add to greased bread pan, cover with damp towel..  Allow to rise for 45-60 minutes.  Bake at 400F for 25-30 minutes, until lightly browned.

Gosh - this sounds amazing! All my favourite things - orange, sesame and bread and they come all together. I'm not much of a bread maker but luckily my hubby is so he'll have to make it for me. Can't wait.
