Savannah’s Savory Bites

Posting Schedule - Monday: recipes from other sources that I’ve enjoyed, Wednesday: my original or family recipes, Friday: themed recipe blog hop

Something is brewing in Savannah’s Savory kitchen.

Although, most of the recipes I have posted are not very healthy, I have some great healthy meals coming soon.  And if you are going to splurge on a sweet it is always best to make it yourself.  So that is my justification for posting those luscious pie recipes.
I am working on a tomato soup base that you can make ahead and freeze.  To eat healthy you have to plan ahead.  If you do not, it becomes necessary to buy quick foods, many of which claim to be healthy but contain corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, preservatives and too much salt.
This soup base is made with vegetables and olive oil.   You can use it to make many different “flavors” of soup.  If you find it difficult to get the recommended 5-6 servings of vegetables a day into your children this soup  base is a must as all of the vegetables are pureed.
It will allow you to take left over vegetables a few chicken breasts and make soup for lunch or dinner.  Do you sometimes find that there is a 1/4 of a bag of spinach and some rice left over in your refrigerator?   You can toss them into this base with a can of white beans and have a complete meal.
If you will learn how to make the base you’ll be able to get creative and provide your family with a healthy quick meal.  Watch the site in the days to come for this must have recipe.
